Barney is in KL!

Whilst having breakfast today, Mommy read in 'The Star' newspaper that Barney is in KL and there are 3 shows at the KL Convention Center today. Actually, we read about it a few weeks back but totally forgot about it. When asked if I'd like to go, I cried and said 'no'. I misunderstood Mommy when she told me that Barney was performing on stage in KL. I thought she asked me to go on stage with him (I just performed on stage yesterday for my school's Family Day). Mommy managed to clarify the matter with me and I was super excited after that. I kept singing my own made-up song, "I'm going to KLCC... I'm going to see Barney!"...

I was singing and talking non-stop in the car. I was super duper excited about 'meeting' the 'real' Barney... We had already booked our seats online before leaving home and collected the tickets at the box office when we arrived at KLCC...

When it was almost 3pm, people were still arriving. So punctual ah? Good thing the show didn't delay too long because of them. The show started at approximately 3:15pm. The lights went out and Barney came on!

Family Day

At last, the day we have all been waiting for has arrived. It is my school's Family Day today! I didn't wear the dress as planned yesterday. My parents didn't quite like it when I put it on. It was a bit too big and I looked weird. Just when they gave up trying (because I burst out crying very loudly), I agreed to wear the polka dot dress they selected for me. It was sleeveless, but I was glad that I could wear it with a small cardigan over it...

After I was all dressed up, Mommy happily took a number of photos. Unfortunately, she accidentally DELETED ALL of them later!

I was dropped off at school at about 8am. I went to the Summit auditorium with my teachers and other children by bus. Our parents were to be at the venue before 10am. My parents 'collected' me only at the end of the event at about 12pm...

Initially, I was selected to do the Indian dance. Actually I liked the Irish dance, the music is so catchy. Many times, I would sing the tune and dance to it at home. But my teachers decided that I should be in the Chinese costume dance...

My parents were trying to coordinate their efforts to capture both video and photos during my performance. The camera for video and the handphone for photos. Sadly, all the photos taken using the handphone were all blurry. These are the only photos (taken using the camera) we have that were not blurry...

My parents and Mah-mah who also came to see me perform, were very proud of me. They had been very anxious that I would 'chicken' out at the last minute. After much encouragement from my teachers and parents, I gained confidence and actually had fun. I was not so cooperative at the beginning. I was shy and refused to follow instructions. But in the end, I made them all so proud...

I Have Nothing to Wear

It's Family Day tomorrow and I have nothing to wear! So it seems.... Why? Well, it is probably early this year that I started this idiosyncrasy that I will NOT wear anything that is sleeveless or has sleeves that are too short. But I actually have quite a number of blouses/t-shirts and dresses without sleeves...

No sleeves? No Thanks!

Nevertheless, I would make a few exceptions for certain dresses, which I don't mind wearing ONLY if I can wear a cardigan (short or long sleeves) over it, like this one:

Now, the colour is important too. Today, I loudly announced whilst Mommy was doing a last minute shopping, that "I like a pink dress, with flowers and with sleeves!". Mommy loves the dresses at the Brands Outlet, but this time, it was not easy finding one my size. What more, one that is with sleeves. Most of the dresses with sleeves are for 1, 2 or 3 years old. I turned 4 already this month. I did try on a few dresses for ages 2 and 3. The length was alright but they were all a bit tight at the top. So Mommy had to return to the shop in the afternoon with me to exchange one she already bought this morning...

2 new dresses. Which dress passed the test?
Answer: Neither.
The left dress (for age 4) doesn't have sleeves.
The right one (for age 5) has short sleeves but it is not pink!

In the end, I decided upon the dress below, which has been hanging in my wardrobe for some time. It is pink, with flowers and with sleeves. Perfect? Not really. It is still slightly big for me but at least, I have something I like to wear for the Family Day tomorrow...

I have so many photos taken (to blog about) earlier this year that I haven't posted. There are so many photos that I kinda lost track what they were about and which I have already blogged about...

Unlike previous years, it was easier to track, because any post in my blog would usually be posted at the date the pictures were taken. So I think I'll have to backlog and do the same for all those pictures taken this year (and previous years too!) from the latest to the earliest.

Therefore, there will be new posts at backdated days/weeks/months/years (again), if you wanna check them out. They will be tagged with the label 'backlog'. This means I will also be trying to label all the existing posts because I haven't labelled any before this. Still trying to keep up with new stories as they happen. Hopefully I don't get lazy again!

Too Many Soft Toys

Today, Mommy decided to sort out my soft toys. She gathered and arranged all of them on the sofa upstairs. She was surprised (or maybe not really that surprised) that I have an awful lot of soft toys! Some were gifts from friends and relatives or simply old favourites of Mommy's or brought home from Mah-mah's place...

Mommy had a hard time making the initial decision before she finally asked me which toys I was willing to part with. At first, I told her "No, they are all Leanne's. I want them all!". But after a very short while, I made up my mind without hesitation. It was not a difficult decision for me...

Mommy couldn't bear the thought of giving the rest away. So, she took a long time deciding who could stay for now...

Family Day Rehearsal

Mommy didn't have to wake me up this morning. I woke up an hour earlier than usual because I was super excited about going for the rehearsal at a 'real stage', where I was going to perform a dance for Family Day this Friday. We went there by bus!

After getting dressed, however, I started to have mixed emotions. I was happy yet nervous, eager but anxious too. I couldn't even decide what shoes to put on, my favourite sandals or the toes-covered shoes (because Mommy told me that teacher said I should wear "proper walking shoes, no slippers" allowed)...

The Sweet/Funny Things I Say

Lately, I have been quite expressive...

Mommy, I love you... you are my best friend!

Mommy... *kiss* I think giving you a kiss is a good idea.... it makes you happy, am I right?

Sometimes, I would say the funniest things...

Mommy, can you hear the children playing basketball at the playground? I can, because I have special ears! I can hear very far away...

Or, I would make up excuses/stories to escape certain requests/tasks or to get something. This is nothing new really, been doing this ever since I was about 2...

Daddy: (Trying to encourage me to do well during my assessment week last month). If you listen to your teachers in school and get many stars, I will take you for kiddie rides, okay?
Me: Daddy, no need many stars also you can take me for kiddie rides mah... (Touching my forehead) Mommy, you touch and see. I think I 'faatt-siew' (have a fever) lah, so I cannot go to school tomorrow...

Something about TV...

I think I need to watch TV, then only I can finish my lunch...

My leg hurts... I need to sit down and watch TV, then I'll feel better...

I Am a TV Addict!

When I wake up in the morning, the first thing I would say is "Mommy, can I watch TV.... pleaseeee?"

Mommy: *shaking her head* Say "Good morning, Mommy" first...

Me: Good morning, Mommy.... Now, can I watch TV?? Huh? Huh? Pleeaasseee?

Mommy: No...

Me: Why?!

Mommy: Don't always TV, TV, TV lah... Too much TV is no good for you... bla bla bla...

Me: When can I watch TV?

Mommy: Later...

Me: Later when? Long hand point to 12 already, it's showing 'Jake and the Neverland Pirates' nooow...

That's what you hear almost every morning. If you let me, I can watch Disney Junior on Astro all day. Even though, there are always reruns, I would still watch them whilst doing other things too..

This week, Mommy is endeavoring to resume the 'training' to limit my TV viewing to only 3 cartoon shows a day. I get to pick any 3 shows. "Jake and the Neverland Pirates" and "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse" are usually top in the list followed by "Angelina Ballerina", "Little Einsteins", "Octonauts", "Animal Mechanical" OR "Special Agent Oso". Hmm, nearly all of the cartoon shows on Disney Junior are my favourites. The training stopped temporarily last week as I was not well and TV helped to keep me in good spirit. I actually started this 'training' about 3 weeks ago...

Here are some of the things I did, starting October 2, Sunday evening:

1. Painting
My paintings are of my own originality. Mommy only helped me fill my water palette with water colours and my plastic bottle with water. Daddy taught me earlier how to add a little water to the colours and mix them. After that, I didn't want anyone to tell me what to paint or how to do it...

Besides practicing my letter and number writings (numeric and Chinese), I did some colouring and drawings. I especially like the 'fruits' drawing sessions. I would pick a fruit, watch Mommy draw it, then I copy and we colour them together. See examples below...

3. Sand Art
Finally, Mommy showed me how to do it. It was interesting but.. as we did it outside the house (Mommy didn't want any mess inside the house) I was sweating a lot and didn't like it. In the end, Mommy finished the work. There wasn't enough sand to complete one picture. So the outcome wasn't splendid either. Nevertheless, I admired it every time I saw it (before Mommy threw it away)...

4. Others
Other activities when not watching TV include playing the piano, riding my bicycle, Lego building, playing hide and seek with Mommy, learning maths with Daddy, etc. and nap! Yes, I take naps (forced to) in afternoon once again for an hour or so. After finally almost recovering from so many months of coughing off and on (since May), I need to catch up on some sleep. My naps these few days have been short but sweet and good for me...

Even though I was not too happy with the idea of 'less TV", I quickly adjusted. It was fun doing other things besides watching TV. Nonetheless, I still ask the same question almost every morning: Mommy, can I watch TV, please?

A Doctor 4 Times a Week!

Last week, Mommy had to see the doctor 4 times (a clinic doctor, a dentist, a general surgeon twice). This week, I had to see the doctor 4 times too (same doctor, Dr.C)...

I started an episode of coughing at night last Sunday (October 18) and it got worse. Here's the story for the week...

Monday, October 17
Daddy went to Singapore for work. Whilst I was playing at home in the afternoon, I tripped and bumped my head on the floor! Of course, I cried and cried. Mommy was so worried about the 'mouse-hill' on my forehead that she took me to the doctor that very evening as soon as the clinic opened at 6pm. Dr.C turned off the lights, checked my eyes and then also my knee reflexes. Then advised Mommy to observe me closely in the next 24 hours. If I start vomiting (not because of coughing), have a bad headache, act strangely or blurry, unable to move my hands or legs, then immediate medical attention is needed. A head scan was not necessary at that moment as I seemed fine and the scan could do more harm than good. It's 10 (or did he say 100 times?) more harmful than x-rays. After checking me over, I was prescribed some medicine for my cough...

That night, I was coughing EVERY MINUTE till about 3am! Sleep was no longer than 2 minutes between the coughs. I coughed so much, I vomitted 3 times! (Which was worrying also because I had my head bumped earlier). What a mess! Fortunately, Mommy had a small basin ready for me to use. When it was 6am the next day, I started coughing again. The medicine I had taken didn't seem to help. What's wrong?

Tuesday, October 18
In the afternoon, Mommy forced me to take a nap. Even though I was very tired, my nap was not peaceful. I coughed every 1 or 2 minutes. I snored, grunted and was rather 'noisy' when not coughing, as you can see in the video below:

Since Mommy has not fully recovered from her cough yet, she was tired, confused and panicked. Alas, our prayers were answered. A couple of sisters called and encouraged her. Poh-poh and Daddy also called, then Mah-mah came over with some dinner and to stay the night. Even Auntie Judy sent us so much food, there was leftover enough for another day's meal...

Before they came, Mommy took me to see Dr. C (2nd time) again even though it was raining dogs and cats that evening. After she had explained my condition, Dr. C sent me to the asthma/lung treatment room to use the NEBULISER. This was my first time using it.

At night, I slept at 10:15pm and I slept sooo soundly. Only coughed twice during the night. Phew...

Wednesday, October 19
Mah-mah returned home in the morning. I skipped school again. I seemed fine the rest of the day with occasional coughs. But as advised by Dr.C, we returned to the clinic in the evening (raining dogs and cats again!) to use the nebuliser only for the 2nd time. The session took about 15 minutes like the day before and I have been very cooperative. I was a little impatient but I sat quietly most of the time...

At night, I slept at 9:45pm and started coughing at 10:15pm every 5 minutes and threatened to vomit each time, but stopped after an hour or so. I was sound asleep by midnight, with only a few short chesty coughs after that...

Thursday, October 20
I went to school, without much fuss. My teachers were informed to call Mommy if I start coughing uncontrollably again. The day went quite well. In the evening, I returned to the clinic to use the nebuliser for the 3rd time even though it was raining heavily (it's dogs and cats everyday nowadays!). Mommy curi-curi took a few shots of how it was like, with her handphone (see picture below):

Dr. C checked me again after that and sent us home with more cough medicine and also added Singulair (which I have been taking for about 6 weeks already, from Dr. F, finishing in 5 days) to it. I have what he called an 'airway allergy'. The nebuliser helped to relaxed my airway as it has been extremely irritated which explained the every-minute coughs. My 4 visits cost us nearly RM450 in total!

At night, I had a few occasional chesty coughs but managed to sleep through the night...

Today, October 21
I went to school in good spirits... but still coughing occasionally. We still do not know what I am allergic to. Hopefully, I won't need to use the nebuliser again. What a week!

The breakfast buffet at the Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa was splendid. There was such a wide variety of food to choose from (Asian, Western, Middle Eastern and Japanese cuisines, barbecue, cold appetizers and salads). We couldn't finish trying everything even though we only took a little of each food served. I finished almost 100% of everything Mommy took for me (a 1st time record!). Mommy was also feeling a little better, so we enjoyed our breakfast very much...

After my parents' 8th anniversary dinner, we headed back to our room because Mommy was having a splitting headache and a slight fever. I was also super exhausted. Before that, we couldn't resist taking a few photos of the beautiful night lights outside the hotel...

My parents had their 8th anniversary dinner 2 days earlier than the actual date at Tony Roma's this year. It's their favourite place. Daddy loves the ribs here. Although Mommy usually doesn't take beef, she found the ribs very good too. As I have mentioned in my earlier blog, this year is special because I got to join them...

8th Anniversary Weekend (Part 3)

Saturday, October 8

It seemed like my parents' 8th anniversary weekend is a bigger celebration for me than for them. I laughed the most, smiled the most and 'taaaaan' (enjoy) our stay at the Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa the most. Actually, Mommy has not been feeling very well (cough, headaches) but she didn't want to miss the opportunity and agreed immediately to Daddy's suggestion for a night's stay here. And of course, the stay isn't complete without a trip to the pool!!

After relaxing for a while in our room, we walked to the Sunway Pyramid shopping centre. Because I didn't eat much during our brunch earlier, I was rather hungry. So, we stopped at the Chocolate Lounge, the first place we saw as we were descending an escalator near the ice rink. Hmm, this one is not as cosy as the one in 1U. Only after we have ordered, we noticed the I LOVE YOO! nearby. We love the 'yao tiau', soya drink and porridge there. The first time we had it was at the Empire. That day we actually would have preferred something savory to sweet stuffs. Nonetheless, I enjoyed watching people ice-skate at the nearby ice-rink...

8th Anniversary Weekend (Part 1)

Mommy and Daddy's 8th year anniversary falls on a Monday this year. Their anniversary date is October 10. So they decided to have an earlier and simple yet memorable weekend celebration in Sunway. For the first time, I tagged along... Yippee!

We spent 2 days and 1 night at the Sunway Resort Hotel and Spa last weekend, even though it was so close to home (about 10-20 minutes away only).

Good and Bad News from School

First, the good news, we were informed that the bully has stopped school today. What a relief! Just yesterday, Mommy noticed my face was a bit red and asked me why it was so. I told her that the 'bully' hit me in my face again. She asked me many times and I told her that it happened when I was finishing my writing during Teacher C's class. This was not the first time he hit me (and it's always in the face!)...

The first time was some time in July. The most recent was yesterday and last Tuesday when the teacher informed and apologized for what happened. So when Mommy noticed that the bully was in a bad mood last Thursday morning (throwing tantrums, including his schoolbag after his mother dropped him off), she was very worried for me and informed Teacher J before also calling the principal. Thankfully, his bad mood did not spell trouble for me...

... until yesterday. Mommy was so upset and informed Teacher J (my teacher in charge). Teacher C then called Mommy and apologized again. She seemed very upset and frustrated herself too. I don't blame the teachers. How can one teacher be controlling every situation and 10 kids at the same time in a class? I was sitting next to her when it happened. Just as she turned her attention to the kid on her other side, he came and hit me. Apparently, I am not his only 'victim'. Sadly, he seems to lack understanding. Even though his mother asked the teachers to beat and scold him, there must be a better solution. We hope his family finds it...

Now, for the bad news. I shall make it short. A little bird told Mommy that Teacher J has resigned. Her last day will be November 25. We wish her the very best!

No More Tears in School

It has been nearly 2 months since I last blogged. The last blog was about tears in school again. So, I think I want to write about no more tears in school this time...

Last week starting Monday, there were unusually many cars around school. Mommy couldn't find a spot to park nearby. After 'pusing-pusing' (making turns) a few times around my school, she explained the situation and then asked me if she could just drop me off at the entrance and let one of the teachers take me inside. To her surprise, I agreed. Well, her tone of voice was also rather 'garang' (fierce) that time. But I can be a reasonable girl, sometimes. If I understand the situation, I would cooperate.

So that was the first time Mommy didn't have to park her car and walk me in. Since then, Mommy would just stop me in front of the school (after advanced notice and encouragement) and a teacher would come and open the car door for me. I would then hop out cheerfully and walk in with the teacher. You should have seen the look on each teacher's face every morning. They were very surprised and have been very generous with their praises. Mommy and Daddy are really pleased with me too.

Tears in School Again

This week has been quite a challenging week for Mommy. Every morning, except Monday and Wednesday (a public holiday), I would cry and not let Mommy leave me in school. It has taken between 20 to 45 minutes of persuasion (and patience!) before I would go in to my class...

Why? I told Mommy "I don't like school anymore" or "I want Benjamin" but he has been absent on Monday and Tuesday. Yesterday and this morning, I told Mommy it's because "I am very tired". It's true. I haven't been sleeping well. I have been coughing a lot at night only, usually around 4am to 6am. I have this cough for 3 weeks now. Finished all the medicine Dr.C gave and still have not recovered. I had this cough before. Like the last time (early this year), this cough would probably take a long time to go away... 100 days cough?

Besides the cough, I really miss my Daddy too. He is in the Netherlands this week. Every day, especially at night, I would ask Mommy "Why Daddy take so long to come back? Why is he so late?" I miss the reading and iPad playtime with him...

Hopefully my mood will be better next week. It's very heartbreaking for Mommy to see my tears instead of my happy smiles when she leaves me in school...

A Bully in Class?

There is a new boy in my class this month. Yesterday, he hit me very hard on the face and made me cry. He also hit the other children. Mommy was very upset to hear about this last night. So, this morning, she called the principal to highlight her concerns. Mommy wants to know if this actually happened and also asked that the teachers watch out for this boy. The principal said she will talk to the teachers...

First Time Using Chopsticks

Yesterday evening, we went to Sushi King for dinner. It's one of my favourite place and I love the noodles there. For the first time, Mommy let me try using the chopsticks. No harm letting me practise a little. Also, she didn't have to worry about cleaning up any mess I made...

Parents-Teacher Meeting

It's Saturday but I went to school with my parents this morning. They had an appointment with Teacher Jamie, who was the teacher-in-charge of my progress in school. Whilst they sat down to talk about my progress, I went upstairs with a friend to play at the music room...

My parents received the following folder...

What is it? It's my 2011 Mid-Year Learning Progress Summary Report...

Summary report of what? It's a summary report of all the assessment subject papers, which Mommy has already placed nicely in the clear pocket holder at home now (together with all the other schoolwork which I had brought home from school)...

What were my subject papers? There were 8 papers: Bahasa (2), Chinese (2), English (1), Phonics & Vocabulary (1), Cultural Studies & Sensorial (1) and Mathematics (1).

Here are some examples of what's in the papers:

What did my teacher say I need to work on? My writing, especially the formation (which stroke should go first) of the small letters ('f' and 'g') and certain Chinese words...

What other notable comments (not in my summary report) did my teacher make?
1. I enjoyed the English subject most.
2. Even though I do not speak much Mandarin at home, I am making good progress in this subject. Also, I sometimes speak in Mandarin, copying what others, saying "jer ke mei mah?" (is this nice?) when showing my work to the teacher.
3. I pushed a boy off his chair because I didn't like him to sit with me. I wanted my teacher to sit with me.
4. I am very hyper-active during Music class. My teacher also noticed that I have good rhythmic sense and suggested that I should attend additional classes of Music and/or Art.
5. I am not as timid as I was during the first few months of school. I am, in fact, the loudest (and most probably the nosiest) in class now. (My parents were not surprised by this fact, as I am very loud at home and when in the car too)...
6. I always finish my assigned work quickly in school. (At home, I almost never finish what I start)...

Homemade Bear-bear Fish Paste

Last Wednesday, Mommy decided that she wanted to make her own fish balls or fish paste. So she mustered up some courage and asked a fish monger at the market about it. The fish recommended was called "kau yu" in Cantonese. It's a long black fish (sorry, forgot to take a photo of it). Mommy bought the smallest one there. It was nearly 1kg (don't remember the exact weight) and it cost RM18 (is the price reasonable?). He helped Mommy sliced it and Mommy went home and did the rest of the work (briefly described below)...

The fishy process: Mommy scraped the flesh off the skin of the fish with a spoon. Later, she mixed some salt with it and rolled them into balls with a little flour (is this how you do it?**). Feeling inspired and creative, she also made a couple of bear-head-shaped fish paste. The bones and the rest were also kept and used to boil the soup...

** No. According to the experts... Actually, no flour is necessary. Only some salt and water. Also, you should wet your hands before handling it. So that it's not so sticky. For better results, chop-chop-chop it on a board to mince it further. After mixing in some salt and water, throw it into a bowl, take it out, throw it back in and repeat until it is.. err... 'nice'. Then, you can start turning it into whatever shape you like. You could try putting some in one hand, squeeze out a little (if u know what I mean), then use a spoon to scoop a small portion out to form a little ball. Hope my understanding is correct (and whoever is reading this can understand... haha).

The Little Pianist is Back!

Last week, Michelle-che-che came for her piano lessons and I was not in school that Monday morning because I had a cold. Since then, my interest in learning how to play the piano came back. So, Mommy taught me how to play a short music piece two days ago. Watch me play:

My Favourite Things

This week, every time I go to the toilet for a no.1, I want Mommy to go with me. She would sit on a stool next to me and we would talk about my favourite things (despite the obvious not-favourite smell). The conversation would go something like this...

Mommy: What is your favourite colour?
Me: Pink, Brown, Green, Red...
Mommy: Wah!?! I thought your favourite colour is purple?
Me: No, I like all colours. I like rainbow colours...
Mommy: How many colours does a rainbow have?
Me: Seven.
Mommy: What are the 7 colours?
Me: Aaaah.... red, brown, green... dunno...

Mommy: What is your favourite toy?
Me: Lego.
Mommy: What is your favourite food?
Me: Vegetables... carrots, potatoes and broccoli...
Mommy: Are you sure? You don't like carrots.
Me: Yes, I like carrots. Rabbits like carrots too.

Mommy: What is your favourite animal?
Me: Zebra, giraffe, cat and dog. I like small cats and dogs... They are very cute!

Mommy: What's your favourite TV channel?
Me: Disney! (Playhouse Disney, later know as Disney Junior on Astro channel 613. Daddy just subscribed it for me)

Mommy: Who is your favourite teacher in school?
Me: Teacher Jamie and Teacher Chedy...

All this time spent talking about my favourite things helps me clear my bowels properly. Otherwise, I am usually rather impatient and sometimes even though I go to the toilet twice a day, I am not really 'done' yet and Mommy will start worrying again. So far so good...

Cards for Everyone

During the making of the cards for my teachers, I also made a number of cards for Mah-mah, Yeh-Yeh, Ku-Cheh, Kevin-gor-gor, Suk-suk and Sam-sam...

This is the first simple card I made for Mah-mah, to cheer her up, because she was in the hospital at that time (last week, for over a week). Poor Mah-mah, sayang ah... Please get well soon...

Inside the card, it reads "MAH-MAH I LOVE YOU", (including a couple of mistakes removed with liquid paper by Mommy)...

Mommy forgot to take a snapshot of the first cards I made for Yeh-yeh, Kevin-gor-gor and Ku-Cheh. Good thing she remembered to take snapshots of the following cards which I also made last week (what a busy week I had!)...

Finger and brush-painted flowers on the cards for Mah-mah and Ku-cheh. Mommy drew the hearts for me to colour. I did the rest myself, with her guidance...

Drawings and colourings on the cards for Yeh-yeh, Suk-suk and Sam-sam. In the 2nd card, the small teddy bear holding the hand of the bigger teddy bear (Sam-sam) is the new baby, my cousin brother who is arriving next month)...

Cards for My Teachers

After spending half a year in school, I have shown much progress both intellectually and socially. So it's time to express my thanks to my teachers for their hard work, patience, kindness and encouragement. I made 6 simple 'Thank you' cards. A card for each subject teacher:

Teacher Chedy - Graded Reading (English) & Cultural Studies (Montessori)
Teacher Emy - Phonics (English)
Teacher Jamie - Bahasa Malaysia
Teacher Pinky - Art & Crafts
Teacher Stacy - Sensorial (Montessori) & Mathematics

Mommy had a number of ideas (some borrowed from my cousin's blog) and she couldn't make up her mind. Should I draw, paint or stick pictures? In the end, I did a bit of everything. I drew, painted, coloured my drawings and punched out teddy-bear-shapes for the cards. I enjoyed painting the most. It was a lot of work. The project took me about a week to complete!

Writing My Name & Chinese Characters

Last Monday, Mommy asked me to write my name. Not expecting me to know how to write my full name, I surprised her and showed her I did (although not perfectly) twice...

This is my name. I mistakenly drew a triangle when writing the "A". So I just added another line inside it instead of erasing and writing it again. Hehe...

Some scribblings and imperfect writing of the Chinese characters 'xiao' (small) and 'ta' (big) in my little strawberry notebook (wrote them in the car on our way to the meetings last Wednesday). I have just learnt how to write them in school. This month, we are learning to write the Chinese characters. Before this, I have learnt to read 6 Chinese poems already. So I know around with 40 Chinese characters now. Mommy is very happy to note I am progressing well in this subject and thanked Teacher Candice, my Mandarin language instructor in school today...

Drawings: Airplanes & The Little Sun

Since my recent trip to Langkawi, I have been quite into airplanes. Besides talking about them, I love to draw them. My first drawing of an airplane does not look like an airplane at all!

This is my initial impression of how an airplane should look like. It has wings, a tail (the 'T') and lots of seats for people to sit inside. See the little 'tick' at the top of the drawing? It means what I drew is 'correct', in my opinion. I drew this at Mah-mah's place. When Yeh-yeh and Suk-suk attempted to draw airplanes for me, I would put crosses next to their drawings and say "wrong" or "not correct". Only mine was "correct". Hehe...

It is not just a little monster with 3 strands of hair on its head, it's the 'xiao tai yang' of that Chinese kids' channel on Astro. Mr.Hush Puppies & Bad Bacteria

About 3 weeks ago (28 May 2011), my parents and I went shopping in Sunway to buy some gifts. That day, I was really thrilled (although a little scared) to meet Mr. Hush Puppies...

Mr.Hush Puppies is so big but cute!

After purchasing only 1 gift, Mommy wanted to go home already. But I pleaded with her for a kiddie ride. So, finally, with Daddy's permission, she let me go for one aeroplane ride and I was very happy...

I love airplanes!!

That same day, Mommy started to feel a little unwell. She felt cold and dizzy. She also started having headaches and body aches. Little did we know, she caught the 'bad bacteria' from me. So, we had to miss the Special Day Assembly the next day to take her to see a doctor. She had high fever like me the week before. I had to stay with Mah-mah for 4 days. Mommy spent a night at the hospital on Wednesday and regretted not staying another night since she felt better there than back home. Even though her fever has already subsided then, her body still ached a little and her sore throat became worse...

That week, Daddy also started to feel unwell. On Friday of the same week, both my parents went to the clinic together. Daddy had a bad sore throat and he also suffered very high fever and body aches. On Monday the following week, they went to see the doctor again. Daddy's sore throat was still very painful. Mommy's sore throat was better but she woke up that morning all puffed up. Water retention. The scales showed that she was suddenly 5kg heavier overnight! After that day, Mommy slowly recovered and eventually, Daddy was all better too...

What a strong and vicious bad bacteria! After that terrible bacteria infection, we have to take more yoghurt or probiotics as advised by a doctor earlier, because antibiotics kills the good bacteria too...

All of Mommy's medicines. I didn't have that many. For me, only paracetamol and antibiotics. For Daddy, some painkillers, panadol and 2 types of antibiotics...

Fever, Fever, No More!

It has been the worst fever ever! For 5 days and 4 nights, my temperature fluctuated between 37.5'C and 40.0'C. I never had a temperature over 38.0'C before this. It started last Friday afternoon. On Saturday morning, I was taken to the Sunway hospital when my temperature rose to 38.8... and again on Monday (before dawn) when it rose to 39.9!! Paracetamol alone didn't seem to help. Only after 2 days of antibiotics (given upon 2nd doctor's visit), my temperature become normal again... much to my parents' relief...

I insisted on checking my temperature myself this morning...

See, no more fever (36.8'C)... since yesterday afternoon...

Snacking on some blueberries. My appetite has improved. Yesterday, I was already asking for extra servings of broccoli for lunch and later finished a whole box of blueberries. Just the day before that, I could not even finish 1 slice of bread or half a bottle of milk...

Baby TV on channel 618. This chaneel really helped kept me entertained and from fussing. I watched it almost all day... Mommy accidentally found this channel a couple of weeks ago. There is a different story every 5 minutes which I enjoyed very much. 'The Snowies' and 'The Mice Builders' are my favourites...

My parents camped in my room and closely monitored me through those nights... (well, the air-cond in their room was also broken)... 3 out of the 4 awful nights, they had to insert 'the voltaren 12.5mg bullet' up my backside to bring down the temperature. The doctor advised them to do so when the temperature is over 39. I cried but was very cooperative. I was also calm and did not cry when we went to see the doctor both times. I only cried during the second visit when I had to do a blood test... During my fever, I also sweat a lot. Good thing, I love drinking lots of water. But Mommy has to change me many times throughout the day and especially at night. Because I am still so fussy about what I want to wear, she has to do the laundry everyday. I also vomited a few times...

I have been sick every month since I started school. Usually it is just cough and colds, besides tummy problems. So this fever scare is making my parents have 2nd thoughts about letting me continue to attend school for the next 2nd half of the year. They are still debating over it...

On the morning of our second day in Langkawi, I told Mommy that I didn't know where I was when I woke up. I was thinking whether I was in Port Dickson, Cherating or Taiping. But when I opened my eyes and looked around, I remembered that I was in Langkawi. Yes, I was very chatty already in the morning because I was happy to be in Langkawi and I had a good night's sleep...

Day 2's activities were similar to Day 1's. After breakfast, we drove to the "Telaga Tujuh" but decided against walking/climbing up the hill to see the waterfalls. We were afraid of meeting monkeys along the way too ('pantang' for pregnant Sam-sam). The idea of going on the cable cars was also not welcomed. Everyone seemed more interested to go shopping again and so we went to buy more chocolates, beer, liquor and others (t-shirts, clothes, a luggage bag, etc.)...

After shopping and lunch, we were back at the resort for a short rest, swimming and another night of laughter and fun in Yeh-yeh's room before retiring to bed. Oh, whilst Daddy and Mommy courageously battled the strong waves in the sea after swimming in the pool, I dug in the sand with Mah-mah. We all had a really good time. I kept telling my parents, I like Langkawi!!

Langkawi - Day 1 (06-May-2011)

Our first day in Langkawi (6-May-2011) was filled with the following activities:

1. Shopping

We had our lunch in the Kuah town, where we also bought a lot of chocolates, some beers, stout, whisky and even DOM. They were so cheap!! Believe it or not, a bottle of beer cost cheaper than a bottle of mineral water here!

Although it drizzled a little, it was a terribly hot and humid day. Yet, as you can see in the photos below, I insisted on wearing my cardigan...

2. Drawing

Before my afternoon nap, I did a little drawing and surprised my parents and my grandparents with this picture. They didn't know I could draw. Now, where did I learn how to draw like this?

3. Swimming

Although I still felt a bit tired after my afternoon nap, I managed to drag myself out of bed to go swimming...

With my new float... slowly going down the steps of the 2-feet deep pool. The water was warm and nice whilst the sun was still scorching hot at about 5pm...

I love swimming!

Very happy... I felt more at ease swimming here than when I was in Cherating because I had the whole pool to myself most of the time here...

Playing at the steps leading into a jacuzzi... whilst Mommy and Ku-cheh enjoyed themselves in it. Children below 12 years old aren't allowed in it, you see... aiseh!

4. Relaxing

After a splashing good time in the sea and/or swimming pool, the gentlemen basked in the sun and talked about some serious business stuff. Sam-sam who was about 6-months pregnant was also at the table with them. Mommy and I joined them briefly...

5. Watching the sunset...

The breath-taking beautiful sunset caught our attention... So we went to the beach to soak in its beauty...

6. Dinner

Dinner at the May Hiang Restaurant not far from our resort was good... We were so hungry that we polished almost every dish...

By the end of the day, I grew very attached to Kevin-gor-gor and Ku-cheh... I wanted to hold their hands only...

7. Games & TV

I know the adults had a really good time playing cards, watching sports on TV and drinking some beer that night. Their laughter was loud and long. We were all very happy. We retired to our individual rooms at about 10:30pm. I was super-tired and slept soundly through the night. Zzzzz...

Langkawi - Where We Stayed

Upon arriving in Langkawi (6-May-2011), we rented a MPV and drove to The Frangipani Langkawi Resort and Spa...

All packed in the Toyota Innova we rented... Daddy drove, Mommy navigated (also assisted by GPS) and everyone else in eager anticipation of where we would stay (or visit) for the 3 days and 2 nights in Langkawi...

The driveway to the resort was lined up with many frangipani trees...

As we approached the main lobby, we were greeted with a tremendous beautiful bougainvilla in full bloom... Wow!

The path to our rooms... There were double-storey-like houses along the path. Each 'house' has 4 rooms. There were 2 rooms upstairs and 2 rooms downstairs. We occupied 3 rooms in one of these houses and the 4th room was in another house 'next door'...

First Plane Ride (6-May-2011)

I like aeroplanes!! I have been telling my parents this almost everyday since my first plane ride about 2 weeks ago, on the 6th of May 2011, to Langkawi!

Somewhere inside KLIA... waiting for Daddy, Suk-suk and Kevin-gor-gor to check-in for us.... Can you see them in the background? They were wearing a pink or red shirt/jacket...

Just before boarding... the plane you see in the background is the plane that flew us to Langkawi...

All waiting to go on board.... Kevin-gor-gor, Ku-cheh, Sam-sam, Suk-suk, Yeh-yeh and Mah-mah...

Mommy, Daddy and I... all excited and can't wait to go on board the plane...

Finally on board!! We were the first to board the plane... Children (me!), pregnant ladies (Sam-sam) or elderly people (my grandparents) were given priority... Mah-mah sat in the seat in front of me. Next to her is Yeh-Yeh and Kevin-gor-gor. Opposite them, were Ku-cheh, Sam-sam and Suk-suk... And my little bunny in my arms...

The plane has taken off.... Waaaah, we are so high up already!!

Enjoying the light refreshments served on board... I had some cold milo and peanuts...

I noticed a beautiful rainbow arched outside my window just before landing and told Mommy... who quickly took a couple of snapshots of it... It was truly awe-inspiring!

(Hehe, it's true. At first, I cried and refused to let Mommy leave. When I saw Benjamin, my fears immediately disappeared and I went inside the class with him and forgot about Mommy...)

Me: This morning, Mommy no need to walk upstairs with me hor... Leanne is a good girl, didn't cry... I walked upstairs with Benjamin...

Once, when Mommy hugged Poh-poh, I quickly pulled her away and told Poh-poh, "This is my Mommy!!" They were very shocked...

On another occassion, sometime during the CNY holidays at Mah-mah's house, Mommy carried a cute baby of a visiting relative and I grew hot with jealousy. I screamed and shouted, "Cannot!! Cannot!!"

Before the one week school holidays last month (14-mar-2011 to 20-mar-2011), I was usually cheerful, especially on a Monday (funny but true)…

After the holidays, however, I started having the Monday blues… Last Monday, I went to school but I fussed and cried so much, Mommy had to take me home. The same thing happened the week before too. Mommy was really upset and threatened to put me in the store room as a punishment. I was given a choice between 'go to school' or 'sit in the store room'. Of course, I didn’t choose the latter...

This week, I insisted that Mommy carry me in and then, walk upstairs to my class every morning. Reluctantly, she did just so… except one time when Teacher Chris (my favourite teacher) took me upstairs. Hopefully next week, I will be more brave…

16-feb-2011: The first time I was punished for being terribly naughty at the meetings. My punishment was to sit in the store room. Thus far, I have been sentenced twice...

Must Mm-Mm Everyday

Mommy is always reminding me that I must mm-mm (poo-poo) everyday!
I usually do so in the mornings but since I started school this year, I also started having "toilet problems". For example, just last Wednesday, I again held back from emptying my very full bladder until my tummy hurts and started to cry. Good thing, Teacher Chris knew what the problem was and quickly took me to the toilet. The next day, Mommy informed the teachers again about my "toilet shyness" and I was reminded by my teachers twice to go to toilet...

Me: Aaargh… stomachache…
Mommy: Oh no, do you want to mm-mm?
Me: No…
Mommy: Today, you haven’t mm-mm. Go mm-mm now…
Me: Why every time ask me to mm-mm 1...?
Mommy: * If you don’t mm-mm everyday, poo-poo will get stuck again and then, pain-pain like last time… Must mm-mm everyday…
Me: I don’t want to mm-mm everyday. I want to mm-mm only on Saturday…
Mommy: ??!! No… Repeat *…
Me: Why must mm-mm everyday?
Mommy: Repeat *…
Me: Don’t have mm-mm… (got down from toilet, put on pants and ran away…
Mommy: Sigh… (worried). Leanne, still got stomachache or not?
Me: No!
Mommy: Are you sure? Got stomachache or not?
Me: No…!
Mommy: Later mm-mm ah. Remember, you must mm-mm everyday, okay?
Me: Okay…

Sometimes I also get stomaches because I like drinking a lot of water. For example, I can still managed to drink a lot of water after 7oz of milk...

Extra Servings of Fruits and Vegetables

Since my horrible constipation problem, Mommy has been feeding me extra servings of vegetables and fruits. Here are just a few pictures of what I had for lunch this week...

Lots of baby spinach, bok choy, cabbage and broccoli this week together with some carrots, eggs, some baked fish (not in the pictures) and/or some fish cakes and chicken, and rice.

She even served vegetables during my afternoon snack at about 3pm, especially if we ate out for lunch earlier...

Banana, grapes, baby spinach, baby carrots and eggs...

After every meal, I will have fruits (and yogurt)...

Strawberries, blueberries, grapes and bananas... I love those cute toothpicks!

And I kuai-kuai (being good girl) finished them all without fuss...

Mystery of Tummy Aches Solved!

Everyday I complained about tummy aches. It often struck after food, especially after my milk in the morning and also after school…

For weeks, Mommy had been trying to find the source of the problem. Is it an excuse not to attend school? Or an excuse to ’cha yau’ (because I like the yuyi oil)? Did I eat too much? Too fast? Too little? Gastric? (I sometimes don’t eat during school break time) Wind? Is it because I played with my belly button? Drank too much water? Didn’t empty my bladder too long? Changing brands of milk powder? Constipation? Appendicitis?!

We visited my pediatrician but she couldn’t check me properly because I was not cooperative. Based on what Mommy told her, she prescribed some medicine for wind and constipation. One thing for sure, it was NOT appendicitis (phew!). If it were, the pain would be increasing and continuous…

Just when we thought I no longer have any tummy aches problems, I suffered a terrible constipation problem one Saturday evening at Mah-mah’s house. Just the day before, I already went to the toilet twice, morning and night (small hard stools but a lot of them). Yet, I still wanted to poo-poo but couldn’t. I complained that it was stuck and cried a lot. I sat in the toilet and then on the potty for more than an hour…

A pump of medicine up my butt at 7pm (NOT recommended for children as advised by a pediatrician later), a dose of medicine for constipation (given by Dr. Florence) at 7:30pm and a trip to the clinic at 8pm, didn’t bring any immediate relief. Finally, back home, I made a really big “no. 1” in the living room at 10:45pm. It was a really huge pile and my potty was more than half full!

For the next few days after that, I continued to poo a lot. Since there was still some hard stools, I continued to take the medicine for constipation for 2 more days. Despite having a cough, Mommy gave me yogurt again everyday, besides fruits and the constant toilet reminders. After about a week, my bowel movements finally seem to be back to normal early this week (It’s clear that today’s poo was from yesterday’s meals because of the strawberries I had)…

Constipation had never been a problem till recently. I do not wish it to happen again...

Bell in My Nose

This is a backlog about what happened on the evening of 14 Jan 2011. I did something rather dangerous. I removed a little bell from one of Mommy’s small wooden cats (display items from Bali) and placed it inside my right nostril!

After I did that, I thought it was rather funny to have a bell ringing in my nose. I excitedly told Mommy about it when she was doing the dishes in the kitchen. She couldn’t believe her ears and panicked. Amongst all things, silly Mommy tried to dig it out with her little finger without any success. Daddy wondered what was the commotion in the kitchen and quickly came to the rescue. He closed my left nostril and asked me to blow my nose hard. It took me a couple of times before the bell was shot out from my right nostril. Much to my parents’ relief. Of course, after that, I received a good lecture about the dangers of putting things in my nose, ears, etc…

My New Favourite Cardigan

Back to School after a Long Holiday

After almost 2 weeks of holiday, I am back in school today. To Mommy's surprise, I shed no tears. I didn't cry in the morning before leaving the house. When we arrived in school, I quietly placed my slippers on the rack outside, walked in and waved bye-bye to Mommy. No drama, no fuss, no tears. Mommy and Daddy are so proud of me...

How I Fared During My 1st Month in School

This is a backlog about my 1st month in school:

The 1st week went generally well (See Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4 and Day 5).

The 2nd week was full of drama (and trauma!). It included two mornings of emotional shock when a teacher separated me from Mommy; skipping half day of school because I was very unhappy and a little unwell (cough); refusing to go into my class and Mommy has to sit outside my class (with the door left opened) till school was over or else!

Day 1 of week 2: Another teacher carrying me after Mommy has supposedly already left; Sitting on the steps, not wanting to play during Physical Activities in the morning; Still in a crypot mood (see my milk bottle on my chair?) and being coaxed by Teacher Chris; Happy again after receiving a treat from Mommy!

Day 2 of week 2: Enjoying my treat and a bicycle ride in Giant...

Day 4 of week 2: When curiosity got the better of me. I entered the class because I wanted to do some painting...

The 3rd week was slightly better. Mommy still accompanied me to my class but managed to sneak away or leave me in school for a couple of hours or more. On the first day, she seemed to take a long time in the toilet. On the 2nd day, I reluctantly let her go to the bank. The next few days, I cried a lot and I would insist on having a 'talk' with Mommy and give her kisses before I let her leave. Nevertheless, I was always cheerful when Mommy came to pick me up after school. I was also very pleased to have treats every time. Treats included Kinderjoy, Bueno, Panda biscuits and M&Ms. All enjoyed whilst on a kiddie ride in Giant before going home for lunch…

The 4th week was both good and bad. I would cry as soon as I wake up in the morning, saying “I don’t want to go to school!”. In school, I would cry even louder when Mommy has to leave. The peak was on the 2nd day. Mommy could still hear my loud cries a few doors away after she left. It was very heartbreaking for her. But the cries were shorter after that and I didn’t burst into tears again when I saw Mommy after school. Mommy’s friend even called her on Friday to report that I didn’t cry after she left. My teacher Chris also mentioned in my weekly summary report that I was more cheerful and adapting to school…

The 2 days before the long holiday started were exceptionally good. Even though I cried before we left the house, I didn’t cry in school. Daddy (on leave from work) and Mommy were both very pleased. Since then, I was always proud to say “I didn’t cry… I waved bye-bye to Mommy and Daddy..."

Fifth Day of School

Today, I think I woke up on the wrong side of bed. I was in a bad mood almost all morning...

Unlike the past few days, I cried alot today. I cried and cried so much that Mommy had to sit with me in class all morning. When she took a little longer than usual in the toilet, I would also cry. I refused to do or say anything when teacher Jamie asked me to (during Bahasa class). If she or Mommy asked me more than once, I would burst into tears again. I could not be persuaded me to do or say anything. I was such a crypot!

After two helpings of Coco Crunch with chocolate milk (yummy!), however, my mood was a little better. Feeling assured that Mommy would be in the class with me and also not wanting to be left out, I began to participate and also do my assignments...

Just before water play, I saw a bright orange school bus stopped outside my school to pick up a student. Jumping with joy, I told Mommy "The bus is here!!" I was a little disappointed when I was told that I couldn't go on the bus, not today...

Fourth Day of School (Part 2 - A Good Day)

My fourth day of school (06-01-2011) was quite good. I didn't cry because Mommy decided to stay in school with me until it is over, just this once. Call me a spoilt brat but I was very glad...

Third Day of School

On my third day of school (05-01-2011), I agreed to wear my uniform BUT only the skirt. Earlier, Daddy said that if I don't wear my uniform, then I cannot go to Giant or Tesco and also, no elephant kiddie ride. So, I told Mommy "Tell Daddy I wear one uniform today, okay?"

Feeling a little proud that I wore "one uniform" today...

It seemed that I had no problems in class today. I didn't cry and I didn't mind when Mommy went to sit outside the classroom. I was also alright when the door was closed and couldn't see Mommy sitting outside. So, at about 10am, Mommy decided to escape for an hour or so again. She went to IOI mall to have breakfast and to buy a few necessities and something for me...

Then, Mommy took out a small blue elephant soft toy which she bought for me. It caught my attention for a short while, then I started to cry loudly again. As I wouldn't stop crying, Mommy hurriedly gathered my things and we went home...

Back home, I asked Mommy where Daddy was...

Me: Where is Daddy?

Mommy: Daddy went to work.

Me: Daddy go to work to take money ah?

Mommy: To make money, not take...

Later that evening, Daddy also asked me why I cried...

Leanne: I want Mommy upstairs mah...

Daddy: Mommy cannot always stay in school with you.

Leanne: Nooo, I want Mommy upstairs with me...

Daddy: Mommy has to ... bla... bla... bla... leh?

Leanne: Nooo, cannot!

Mommy: Why cannot? So sien sitting in school all day. Only children there. Mommy has nothing to do there wor...

Second Day of School

On my second day of school (04-01-2011), I woke up crying... I reached the school crying... and I went home crying... Why? What happened??

1. I didn't want to take my afternoon nap the day before and I slept late that night. It has not been easy getting me to sleep. So I was still quite tired when Mommy woke me up...
2. I didn't want to wear my uniform...
3. I fell down just outside the school compound whilst walking to school from the car and hurt both knees. They were bleeding and painful...
4. Staying attentive and cheerful for more than 3 hours in school is a bit difficult for a sleepyhead who also wanted her nen-nen (milk) just before class was dismissed...

Teacher Ee Lin (the principal) gave Mommy some antiseptic cream to apply on my poor knees. I was still sobbing a bit when class started. Not many students were present today. At first, there were only Yan Jun (the naughty boy), Adbinan (the Indian boy) and me. The oldest girl (January child), Ni Jie and the sweet girl were absent. Later, another new girl (Qiao Ern) joined our class...

Soon, I was back to my cheerful self. I really enjoyed my class. So Mommy managed to escape for about an hour. She went home to complete a few house chores...

Around 11:30am, my tiredness got the better of me. I kept crying for Mommy and asked her for nen-nen. She had to explain many times that there was none on hand. Since it was already close to 12pm, Mommy thought we should head back home. But I refused to leave!! I wanted my nen-nen and stay where I sat. So, Mommy asked me to choose: Go home and have nen-nen, or let mommy go home to get nen-nen. Reluctantly, I chose to let Mommy go. I told her "Leanne's home not very far. Drive fast fast and come back okay?"... When she came back I was still crying and I continued to cry even after we have reached home...

Back home, my cat managed to comfort me and I stopped crying. She felt very warm because Mommy put her in the sun earlier. I saw her drying in the sun and thought it was funny. Mommy brought her in for me and hugging her made me feel better...

I finished the nen-nen Mommy made earlier and had an egg before I announced that I was full already. I took an early nap and only ate my lunch (ABC soup and rice) at about 3:30pm after I woke up from my nap...

King of Good Food or Not

After school last Monday, we wanted to go to our usual Hailam Kopitiam place. However, there was no parking space nearby (because it was lunch hour on a weekday). So, we went to this place called King of Good Food. The place seemed nice but...

Very full already... I can't finish my fishball and noodles...

The food was reasonably priced and tasted alright. BUT that the piece of chocolate cake was so SMALL. For RM7.50, we expected a bigger piece. Also, the curry mee gave Daddy a DIARRHEA that evening! We are definitely not going back there again, King or NOT!

38 Months Old

Just a short report about me at 38 months old today...

1. My favourite questions nowadays are "Are you happy?" and "What is the time?". Mommy taught me to look at the short hand only, to tell the time. But I get confused when it is between two numbers...

2. Mommy or Daddy still need to 'camp' beside my bed in my room. I don't want to sleep alone, although intially when the room was ready (but the air-cond was not installed yet), I actually shoo-ed my parents out of my room...

3. I really like building what I call 'houses' or 'buildings' using blocks, pillows, etc.

4. I like spelling but I like to ask Mommy to spell, not me. Sometimes I just repeat after her. Often, whislt we are sitting in the garden, I would ask: Mommy, how to spell 'tree'? t-r-e-e, tree!.... How to spell 'flower'? f-l-o, w-e-r, flower!... How to spell... ah.... Barney? b-a-r, n-e-y, Barney!...
Leanne, how to spell your name? Dun wanna spell! Leanne, spell la... spell your name... l-e-a, n-n-e... Good!
Just a couple of months ago, when Mommy ask me to spell my name, I spelled b-a-r-n-e-y... Haha... Auntie Janis laughed too (we were on our way to the ministry)...

5. I like to hold and eat chicken drumsticks (especially Mah-mah's delicious chicken drumsticks)!
6. My other recent favourite food is fish cakes...

7. My all time favourite is anything cold, such as ice-cream, yoghurt, vitagen, cheese...

8. I seldom use the potty now. I would go to the toilet myself. "I don't need Mommy!" I would close and even lock the door, then climb up the toilet, shh-shh, tissue wipe and wash my hands with soap. Only if I mm-mm, I would unlock the door and let Mommy in...

9. I am progressing well in my reading.
- Peter and Jane series: I am doing book 2a now. I can read books 1a and 1b without much problem. But I didn't do 1c because I don't know how to write very well yet. With the recent holidays and others, I have fallen out of the routine of reading during breakfast now. So Mommy will probably need to reset that routine again this year...
- Bedtime stories: I surprised my parents by reading the 1st paragraph of my favourite story "Poorly Bear" from the '365 Stories and Rhymes for Girls, A story a Day' book (the pink book). It reads: Teddy Bear came home from school feeling tired and poorly. "I don't want my hot chocolate," he told Mummy Bear. Teddy Bear sat on the sofa and closed his eyes. "And I don't want to watch television either," he said. I dunno/forget the words in red. All the other words I can read (but Mommy is wondering if I only memorised them?)...

10. Bedtime stories from the pink or yellow book (My Book of Bible stories) or usually both, is a must every night . Usually Daddy has to read to me or else! After that, he must pat me to sleep...

11. I like watching videos or looking at pictures in Daddy's mobile phone. Almost everyday, very kacau one!

12. For several months now, I like to wear my pajamas all day, even after my shower/bath. I would tell Mommy "I want to wear cheong sam and cheong fu" and I insist!

13. I don't mind wearing panties now. I would say "My tai fu like Mommy's but mine got bear-bear one, Mommy's tai fu got no bear-bear..."

14. For the first time, I showed that I am alright without Mommy when David-yi-cheong babysat me and my cousins whilst our mommies went window shopping in Mid-valley recently...

15. I started pre-school yesterday and like it!
